One fascinating side-effect of being in India is the almost total disappearance of my pelvic pain. My first visit in 2004 predated my current symptoms (intermittent but moderately bad pain for two weeks out of every four; had this for the past five years) but I did have severe-ish dysmenorrhea at that time ... but not when I was in India. Last time, no pain at all for the entire month. I'm quite baffled by it. There are so many potential causes that it's hard to narrow a convincing one down - I eat significantly less there (not through illness or not liking the food, but through being busy and having better things to do than eating), I eat far fewer processed things, I drink more water, various spices, probably less gluten, probably more dairy ... it's hotter there ... maybe it's something to do with DEET. I've worked out that it's not the malaria pills (thank goodness) 'cause I was taking them for a month on returning and they did nothing to help. But I'm quite baffled. As I believe I already said.

Probably it would help if I knew precisely what was wrong with me - the vague diagnosis was 'maybe endometriosis?', but none of the three GPs I've seen would refer me for further investigation (I don't know if you remember that one of the said 'If you ever try and fail to get pregnant we'll investigate further', which was cheering). I sort of hoped my newest GP might refer me, but what she actually did was reduce the number of Mefanamic Acid pills I could collect at any one time from 90 to 30, which (because of bus fare) means it's cheaper for me to buy ibuprofen now than it is for me to pick up my prescription. I do sort of think 'maybe endo' might be a bit off the mark seeing as the symptoms are capable of completely disappearing for a month for reasons unknown.

Hey ho.
