The moon's gone.
Feb. 10th, 2006 05:25 pm1. I was looking at the moon through the kitchen window.
2. The moon was up and bright and nearly full, though the sky was far from black.
3. I was wondering how freaked out I'd be if suddenly it receded and disappeared.
4. Then I thought about the tides for a while and wondered how the new coastline would look.
5. Next I wondered how long it would take for the news to break, because there are probably people watching the moon through telescopes and things all the time, and also there are people at sea who would notice.
6. It then occured to me that I could get the news out on LJ immediately.
7. And I wondered what would happen if I just posted a message saying 'The moon's gone! I was looking at the moon through the kitchen window and it just vanished! How weird is that? Anyone know what's going on?'
8. How many of you would go and look out of the window?
9. My final thought in this particular line of thinking was 'To precisely what level have I now descended?'
