Things other.
Sometimes I'm doing things other than novice watercolouring and sketching famous people. I haven't climbed a mountain since last Saturday, which seems a long time now. My legs are quite recovered. I don't think a mountain is an option till October though, and it won't have a cafe on the top. I'm not a walking snob. I like a mountain with its own soup of the day.
Mostly it's raining. I've been falling asleep over games of scrabble and whist, and the fire's been on, ostensibly for the cat, and the Guardian crossword's been passed from person to person, and my mother and I have been re-reading Jennings books and I've really enjoyed myself. Tomorrow we're going to find a tea shop and eat cake. I'm not thinking about next week. Is there a next week? Let's assume not. This is the state of affairs I spent 29 years trying to preserve, mostly by staying still and quiet. So really this is fine.
In other news, why don't they show Bugs Bunny on the telly anymore? Every Saturday when I was a kid, and the alien spaceman who wanted to take over the world, and Yosemite Sam, and the Pink Panther. And Road Runner. And Top Cat. I want to see all these things.
