David Attenborough initiated live snooker on the BBC. It's not like I even needed another reason to adore him.

Why? I don't mean that it was a bad thing to do, but why on earth did he do it? And I shall also mention that I liked the snooker sketches on the Mitchell and Webb show last night.

I would guess that as he was controller of BBC2 when colour came in, it seemed like a good demonstration of the new technology.

What Peet says. He also commissioned The Likely Lads and Not Only...But Also, then he went off to do things with gorillas. Only good things, of course.
