...was rubbish, frankly, though at least it was occasionally rubbish in that tremendously camp Bollywood way. Though sometimes it was just plain rubbish. It turned out to be a pro-'divorce when you find you don't get on with each other' type thing, which is great, but it said it in such an absurd, convoluted, badly written way that I did come quite close to falling asleep. It was a Dharma Productions film (I'd forgotten Karan Johar's company was called Dharma, which amused me hugely), with SRK and co, so I mustn't be in the least surprised, and it was in exactly the same vein as K3G and all those other films beginning with K, only even more pointlessly lengthy. The first half was extraordinarily unamusing slapstick comedy and close ups of nauseating children and the second was a lot of lip-wobbling, crying on benches, dire speeches about the nature of love and thunderclap machines. And there were too few songs, and only one big partyish type song. I did kind of like seeing Amitabh and Abishek Bachchan dancing together, and I laughed at the bit where Dev and Maya both declared they like blue as some kind of ill-explained symbol of their everlasting love and then all the passers by were suddenly wearing blue for no adequately explored reason. And I liked that Rhea and her mother-in-law moved in together after she kicked Dev out. That was nice. And I liked that Samritji died for no reason other than to sagely solve all the dilemmas on his death bed. But otherwise bleh. Basically, I should've gone to see the Bollywood Othello.
