Ooh. Shall I do complaints first? Locke was so disillusioned, which is not a complaint because I rather like him like that, and I loved his mocking his season 1 self, but then why bother to show him being a bit sort of uplifted when Rose reminded him about his magic legs? Would it not have been stronger to have sustained, onscreen disillusion rather than cutting it confusingly about and failing to follow up new directions?
Anyway. Otherwise quite exciting episode really. Actually one of my favourites in this series, aside from the blood spitting and that. Eko was a pain, though I kind of liked him telling Locke he was being difficult so needed headbutting. And I liked learning why Locke's dream in Deus Ex Machina (still my favourite episode by a fairly lengthy chalk) led him to the Beechcraft. Not to kill Boone then, or find the drugs. Had he gone into the hatch then, he would've seen into his own hatch and watched Desmond on his exercise bike and probably still have attempted to open it, so I don't really see what difference it all made. I wonder if the question mark was visible in that episode? I'm guessing Locke didn't see any register of Henry's having failed to press the button, which should've been significant, but that's what happen when you open 25 billion plot strands all at once. I wonder why he put the map into the vaccuum tube. I think that was a poor choice of material for an experiment.
If the social experiment explanation is true, which seems unlikely at this stage in the proceedings, it'll be interesting to find out where it stops. The monitoring job seems no less pointless, and there's a camera on that station too - though apparently they get to go away after three weeks, which must be more fun for them.
The rememergence of the Locke and faith question reminds me how annoyed I am that the antagonism between Locke and Jack has been explored via childish bickering rather than a proper examination of the faith v. science concept.
Sawyer being marginally human. Doesn't really do much in the redemption line of things.
Poor Libby, Poor Hurley, scary Michael. War time methinks. Again.
