Some beast has dumped a Christmas tree right next to our bins. Rubbish collection is taking place, like, soon. The bin men shall first ignore it and then be cross with us, and then we shall have to think of something to do with it. We have no mulching machine. This is essentially a problem.

Has anyone any clever ideas that don't involve fire?

Christmas trees revisited.

You offered excellent (and in one case slightly illegal) suggestions to my Christmas tree problem. In the end, what we did (we being my mother and I) was to go off to the cinema, see Brokeback Mountain (review forthcoming) and eat pizza (spiffing) and lemon tart (enormously acceptable). By the time we came back, it was gone. Hurrah! I think there was a local collection thing going on today or something, because the binmen didn't take it but all the trees in the area had been quite expunged.

I can heartily recommend the cinema/pizza/lemon tart method for any similar problems you might have.
