Instruments of torture.

I can't remember the last time I was alone in the house. What this means is that I haven't had a chance to try and get a decent sound out of the penny whistle in ages. I haven't the trick of the penny whistle at all - it comes out breathy on the low notes and ear-splittingly foul on the high notes. Ergo the house has to be empty if I'm to play it. There's also a fiddle about the place somewhere, but this house and the ones either side of it all have to be empty and the telly on as loud as it'll go before I'll mess around with that.

If anyone has any notion of how to make the penny whistle sound half nice on the high notes, please to be letting me know. I need shortcuts.
