Cramps, flowers, the army and soup.
Feb. 14th, 2010 05:12 pmToday I am a mass of cramps to the point of not being able to walk upright, and my mefanamic acid tastes grim and doesn't entirely work. It is very little fun. I have nonetheless been tidying in the garden, because its untidyness was getting slightly upsetting. It was tricky because I don't really know which things are dead and which things are just hibernating for the winter. I'm going to leave the apparently-dead things till April in case some of them come back to life. I badly need to learn which plants are perennials and which are basically hamsters. Three of my snowdrops have flowered. The BBC says I should line my hanging baskets (they're are three of them and not so much hanging as stuck to the wall) with something fibrous and then a piece of bin bag and then some potting compost and slow-release fertiliser. I have some compost made from vegetable leftovers, and none of the other things. I don't know what to do with the pots. I wonder if I can't just trust the ordinary ground to support life.
In an unrelated topic, you know those adverts for the army? They're fun. They're very much not speaking to me. In my favourite one there was a great big gorge and the bridge had fallen down or been blown up or something along those lines. The caption was 'If you're thinking How am I going to get across?, don't bother calling us. If you're thinking How are we going to get across?, pick up the phone'. But they didn't say what you should do if you were thinking 'How are they going to get across?, which I was.
I'm having tinned tomato soup for me tea. It's allowed. I'm almost ill.
