Ooh, I bet you would do lots of writing if you had your own laptop that you could take into your bedroom or wherever (you could take it to a Starbucks and giggle at other people who do that because YOU would actually be WRITING something instead of just trying to LOOK like a writer, heeeeeeee ok maybe that is only funny to me).
I have no advice for you about the reconditioned laptops, unfortunately. I did purchase a reconditioned KitchenAid mixer a couple of months ago, though, and it is still mixing. My housemate has just used it to make something called 'Monkey Bread,' in fact.
Anyway, I am a big fan of the idea of purchasing reconditioned stuff, especially now that I am mostly on my own and I will never be able to afford a new computer/car/anything again ever. I think sometimes the warranty covers a shorter period, but STILL.
