Make do and Mend.

Today I'm going to try to mend my shoes with superglue. They've had holes in the heels for quite some time but now one of the uppers has come away from the sole and basically they don't look as though they have terribly long to go. Technically I can still afford to buy a new pair of shoes, but I had this dream the other night. It's fairly weird, this, because usually I manage to restrict my real-life fretting to just twelve or maybe fourteen waking hours. But I did dream I was living in an abandoned dry-stone cottage, which is totally my plan for when my parents move out, provided I can escape the support network. I've a friend who knows how to thatch a roof. Normally it's a moderately exciting prospect, only this time all the teeth in my lower jaw had come loose. You do forget it's not all pure romance. Also I dream that a producing theatre wants me to come and live in their rehearsal room during the three weeks I'm supposed to be looking after Grandpa next summer, and also that I neglect to visit him for an entire weekend and saunter along on Monday to find him stuck in the bath. I'm not enjoying sleeping as much as I used to. But the point is that I'm saving all my money for toothpaste. I know it's less than prudent. It's just a plan.
I wish I could knit. I know this wouldn't help me mend my shoes.
