The legs I mean. I wish to organise my Others-related thoughts before the next set of non-revelations on the morrow.
- The legs were not technically the original beach/jungle/hatch survivors' notion of The Others, because they don't really know what that means. The legs are apparently the tail section people's 'Them' (and I'm glad they didn't use the term Others as well). They don't really resemble the boat people, or Ethan, who didn't much care about making noise. And I don't see how they relate to Danielle's whispers. Actually, not much of what Danielle says make sense even on its own terms. She claims to have only heard whispers, yet for some reason she believes The Others are ruthless killers who would slay everyone in order to capture 'The Boy'. I would be surprised if the whispers turned out to be muddy people hiding behind trees. And then again, the tail section people really do seem to have met some ruthless killers. Unless they went crazy and pulled a Rousseau. Their 'trust issues' thing suggests that they have at least had an Ethan type incident.
- The first two sets of legs were identical to the last two, not included the teddy bear owner. I have no idea what that means. Either hallucinations, or the legs were playing Ali Baba. Or a really, really bad production error.
- And I guess we're supposed to assume the teddy bear owner was Walt. If so, he's been somewhat altered. He's walking along behind the main group, ergo he seems to be exercising some description of free will. And he didn't seem the sort of ten year old to drag teddy bears through the jungle. On pieces of cable. I don't know. It was all a bit ick. But that shot gave me lots of faith in the directors, even as my faith in the writers wanes.
