I should do another sunflower update.

I was going to do a proper one with string and centimetres and the like, but...I...can't...be bothered. I keep trying to type impressive, reasonable and yet entirely fictitious excuses, and the truth comes out instead.

Runtface is quite well. We are all much cheered. He is at least 4cm high and currently sunning himself in the living room. His stem is stiff and straight and his second leaves are tiny but present. He's still sort of stained, but that's just the way he is, we've decided.

Sunflower number 1 is racing towards the ceiling, but number 2 is only a millimetre shorter. Sunflower 7...I think...is now the third tallest, then Sunflower 4, then 8 and 9. Sunflower 6 began its second leaves yesterday, which was a great relief.

Sunflower 5 is currently the weirdest sunflower of the bunch. Its first leaves melded to form one lopsided superleaf, and it only seems to be producing a single second leaf. I think this one needs watching.

The next stage is the dropping off the first leaves. I shall keep you in the loop.

And soon I will start the Bonsai trees. This could be tricky. Do not judge me on my inability to produce Bonsai trees. If the shoots come up, you can claim them. I'll be doing five - jekesta and aldenmacrae have bagsied a couple. Has anyone else?

You shall be on the reserve list. I don't actually know how many seeds I have, so if there are Desires of Bonsai Trees after the five have gone (to people without sunflowers first - beyond then I had not decided), I could do a reserve pot. Hurrah.

Flower growing should be an Olympic sport. Obviously.
