I went to see the doctor when I first quit university and he diagnosed me as jealous of all the students who were doing better than me. I just remembered that and felt I ought to record it for posterity.

(Also I recall telling him that one of the reasons I quit was because I hated the width of the corridors in the humanities department in relation to their height, which makes it sound like a matter of feng shui. It does look an intensely peculiar reason when I type it out loud. For the record, I think the problem was more that I was in a mood that meant I could judge when a corridor was so inappropriately shaped that I had to run away from it. But actually I quite like the idea that I quit university because it wasn't aligned quite properly.)

Corridors really should try harder. Also it is as fine a reason for leaving as I ever heard. I never knew anyone to be diagnosed with jealousy before, I hope it's in your permanent records. dude.

It occurs to me that he never offered to cure my official jealousy either. The beast. I'd love to have pills and when people asked me what they were for to say 'my jealously'.

*CLINGS* I've been expecting you to have reappeared for days now and I still hopped a good foot off my seat when I saw you. You have been hugely missed, but it was a great thing you did all the same.

And you can't pretend intellectual inferiority without deleting your entire journal first. I know your historical and current brainfulness.

I'm glad Mongolia has essentially proved a lesson in spending more time on the computer. Did you see any camels or anything though? I enjoy the company of camels.

I fibbed about the hopping. Sorry about that. I sort of hopped internally and mentally, but not truly very physically. I was in a hopping mood, essentially.

Connotations! Are you going to steal my books? I'm probably not bringing many. Should I bring anything else? I shall write a proper post and ask if I should bring things. I have train tickets and everything. It's a bit great.

I'm not getting in for slightly ages. I think my train gets to Newcastle about 4pm or something.

Tell the student loans company to go away forthwith.

Well done with the horse business. I remember trotting on horses. Or horses trotting with me on them. It never seemed to be a great deal of fun. I preferred it to the galloping though, which happened once, very briefly, until I fell off.

I'm not co-ordinating with anyone thus far. I think most people are going to be there around lunchtime. I was going metro my way to the hotel and then walk the rest of it. I'll check my train times most properly on the morrow and let you know when precisely I get to Newcastle. That 1552 train sounds about right I think.

Go for it. First you'll stalk me onto the Metro, then you'll stalk me on a brief walk to the hotel. I expect you to jump behind dustbins a lot, and to pretend to be plants and lampposts.
