I have no idea who wrote it, but so true!

ETA. Google tells me GK Chesterton wrote it.

OMG that is so much fun!!!!! I must do it every day. I was quite shamefully low down on the scoreboard thingy. Yesterday's was easier but they don't keep previous scoreboards?

I was thinking Evelyn Waugh myself. It seemed to have that combination of whimsey and mental illness.

TWO YEARS it's had a hold on me. It's a thing of joy. Joy and fiendish morphine-like addiction.

They cruelly do not keep previous scoreboards, no. I think the people at the top of the scoreboards just find out what it is then race to enter it as quickly as possible anyway. I hope they have proper shame.

Today's is impossible. I was at it for ten minutes before I got fed up with it. No apostrophes, no double letters, no one word letters. It's beastly.
