I made a cake yesterday out of nutella. I've never bought a jar of nutella before because I know how I am with peanut butter and I could only see things ending unhappily with a darkish cupboard and a tablespoon. And when I'd splunged half of the nutella into the cake mix, I found myself left alone with the other half and mostly I found it terrifying. I sampled it on a teaspoon and my reaction was essentially 'This must be removed from the house forthwith'. So I binned it. I feel slightly terrible about it, because what a thing to bin. But it was that upsetting.

The cake's divine anyway and also has cinnamon and hazelnuts therein, and obviously eggs and things. The nutella sank to the bottom and formed a layer of goo. It's a great thing to have in your breadbin. I did photograph it. I'll post it some time later after connecting things to other things with cables.

Nothing much else is happening. My brother and I have reached the episodes of Whose Line Series 4 that were filmed in the US, and they're upsetting us rather. It's the whooping. And the lack of Paul and Tony, obviously, but mostly we can't abide the whooping. I feel massively judgmental really and there are clearly plenty of people just behind Clive who are not whooping and all that, but still there's an awful lot of it and it's so fantastically OTT and it basically makes even the funniest line seem really not that funny. It's a bit like accidentally being at a baseball game or a republican party conference, which are things I never want to happen to me in real life. Also it slows up the quickfire rounds no end when they have to stop after every gag while ten seconds worth of concerted whooping ambles by. Afterwards we had to console ourselves with seasons 1 and 2, which are nice places where Paul and Mike love Tony.

That's more or less all.

Nutella is SO DANGEROUS. The other day I casually mentioned to my sister that the house might be nicer with a jar of nutella in it and she was IMMEDIATELY ON TO ME. It was very sad.

I honestly think that the audience is the worst thing about American Whose Line. I mean, there are other things that are wrong with it and I am a FOOL and quite like American Whose Line but it's the audience that actually make it embarrassing to watch, I think.

I WANT THE NUTELLA BACK NOW. But I'm not going into the bin for it.

The audience is very upsetting. This isn't even the American version - it's earlyish UK Whose Line recorded in the US, and it was a good season by and large but the recordings in the US are just a bit oh dear. I think John Oliver said something about the whooping when he started on The Daily Show and how it basically made him think of every single thing he said 'It wasn't that funny'. I just think whooping at comedy kills humour about as effectively as saying 'Let's have fun' kills the notion of fun.
