I'm going to see the new episode of Lost tomorrow, hopefully. The computer I used to use has lost its connection and the other one's lost its ability to produce sound and the other other one is this one and it's in the front room where there are generally people who don't like to watch Lost. So I may have to get violent. I ought really to apologise to anyone who hasn't read this journal during a Lost season. I get a bit silly. I kind of hate quite a lot of the characters, though I sort of love a few of them as well, and I know it's really not that great a piece of writing and it's largely written on a sort of 'Wouldn't it be cool if ...?' principle, but I get stupidly excited and involved nonetheless.

I HATE BEN. OH GOD. I HATE BEN. I don't even love to hate him. I just hate him. I keep finding people who say we won't know if Ben's good or bad until we truly understand his motivation like there's any motivation that makes it okay to kidnap and experiment upon pregnant women as a fecking SIDE-PROJECT. That's like saying it's okay for me to flay twenty random passers-by with a bull whip, mostly for fun, provided I'm en route to a planet-saving button. I HATE LOCKE AS WELL. AND JACK. OH GOD.

Oh well. Till then, I'm entertaining myself with the Mythbusters slash. Except I'm not really because it's mostly about the junior team. Like grumpy middle-aged men with moustaches isn't ninety-seven times more heavenly.

I have not actually read much Mythbusters slash so I am choosing to believe that you are LYING and fandom is DEFINITELY NOT THAT WRONG. (I don't know why I indulge in these delusions. Fandom has PROVEN itself to be that wrong OVER AND OVER AGAIN.)

I don't know anything about Lost. Is Ben the one with the wild staring eyes? It mostly seems to be the Snape fans on my flist who like that guy.

Fandom, sir, is an ass. You know how it ruined the whole Frost/Nixon thing before that particular fandom had even been invented. And clearly the Mythbusters fandom doesn't actually watch its own programme.

That sounds very like Ben, yes. Massively bulgy eyeballs. I can sort of imagine the Snape fans rather falling for him. Maybe not actually on the evilest team, ergo it doesn't matter than he behaves like a FIEND. That kind of thing.

OH, but once you've skipped past a mere 80 ENTRIES you get some confirmation that they are AWARE THAT JAMIE EXISTS. That's more than I was expecting based on the first page. WHAT IN GOD'S NAME IS WRONG WITH THEM? (The junior Mythbusters are totally lovely, mind you. BUT EVEN SO.)

I started again from 2004 and worked my way towards the future and at least Adam and Jamie came into being that way. I love the junior Mythbusters too, BUT REALLY. It's not hard to work out what to do with a Mythbusters slash comm.

DO YOU ALSO LOVE SNAPE OUT OF HARRY POTTER? I want my sweeping fannish generalisations to be as ACCURATE AS POSSIBLE.

I don't really know anything about him other than he is Alan Rickman, and has sexytiems with Harry. I find it hard to believe I would love any characters from the potterverse.

I don't really think Alan Rickman was a good choice for Snape. I mean, he's a good choice in that he's Alan Rickman and he's lots of fun to watch, but book-Snape's meant to be hugely uncharismatic and generally fairly oily and that's not exactly Rickman.

Yeah I've heard people say that. Though didn't Rowling say that she was so impressed with his take on the character that she started to write Snape more like the Rickman version in the later books?

Yes, she seemed to think him quite fitting and probably did tailor her characterisation to an extent, but then I think she also said that a lot of people who were fond of Snape were probably thinking more of the film version than the book version, so I guess she never wrote the character in a way she considered attractive.
