Civic duty (and prickly heat).

whathoWell, I've just reported my three dead crows, to update you on the saga - I checked on DEFRA's website and it said three or more dead birds of the same species ought to be reported, so I briefly overcame my telephone horror and did my duty, sir. And now my hands tremble slightly and I have prickly heat all round my neck, because I'm that rubbish at telephones.
(Also, having been generally blase and reasonable about the whole bird thing, I felt quite silly reporting three crows to Mr Defra and kind of wanted to slip in things like 'I expect they flew into an electric wire or something' and 'my mother made me do it', except that last is a lie. But there you go.)
And now I have a reference number in case I find any more deceased birds. How jolly.
