My parents come home tomorrow and take over the early morning cat feeding, which I have to say is a bit of a relief. I like sleeping in a little later than 6.40am. And it'll be nice to see them again. Yes. That too. Also I've been feeling kind of intermittently fairly unwellish this week and I can moan to mother about it and she might bring me tea and say 'there, there'. Poor mother. With other people I mostly am stoical and silent, mostly, sort of, unless you cut my limbs off or I have a cold or something, because really, but I just whine like a child at mother. And my flist, obviously. But you knew the deal when you signed up. To be fair, you didn't.

On the downside, I shan't be able to watch Whose Line is it Anyway? in the evenings anymore because my father will reclaim the remote control and put it on AWFUL channels, and I will be sad. I was getting quite addicted. Also I don't think anyone else really cares for it. It makes my brother laugh, but not enough to actually keep him in the room. But there we are. This radiator is most terrible hot.

I love second-person POV songs today, by the way. I can only think of ... one. 'For No One'. There were others. I've forgotten them all. Second-person POV is such a bizarre thing. A friend of mine was writing part of her MPhil thesis on second-person POV and it got brilliantly sticky when she started meddling with the notion that second-person POV is a form of first-person POV in a slightly more explicit sense than third-person omniscient narrative type stuff is. 'Cause you can picture the addresser more clearly, I suppose, especially if they're actually singing at you. And because it's so conscious. It's triffic really. I don't think I could read a whole novel in such a voice, mind, but it can work with a shortish short story, and songs and poems are a grand format for it. I suppose the chorus of 'Ghosts of Cape Horn' is another one, except not quite because I think the focus is on the speaker rather than the addressee. I don't know.

Also songs that don't rhyme. They're nice.
